Jennine & Eddie’s engagement shoot took place on the beautiful monarch butterfly preserve just outside of Santa Barbara, CA. Just stepping out of the thin layer of woods, up a slight incline, you are met with a enormously large expanse of empty plains that end in cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It’s an amazing spot to walk, think, pray, enjoy a quiet walk with a friend or loved one… or, of course, have a photo shoot. I really enjoyed shooting there, and will miss that place when we’re gone.
The Nagels || Family Portraits
I must say, it pains me to look through these photos as I post them. These were taken last September of my brother and his family. My brother, Matt, died of a sudden, massive stroke at the age of 35 just 2 months ago. It is a gift to have been his brother for 33 years… not long enough! He was a true friend, an amazing father, a great husband. I miss him dearly, as does his family. I am continually inspired by the way these photos bring him to life every time I look at them. Matt, I love you… and I will always miss you.
The Garrs || Family Portraits
Some favorites from a portrait session with the Garrs in Kansas City. The Garrs are such good people. They’re very close friends with my brother’s family so it was great to finally meet them!
Jennine + Eddie || Engagement
Carissa + Tom || Wedding
Carissa and Tom’s wedding was in Santa Barbara at the Biltmore Hotel which sits on one of the most beautiful beaches in Southern California… Butterfly Beach. I often miss living in Santa Barbara, but looking back at photos that I’ve taken there does my heart good.
The Coopers || Family Portraits
What follows are some of my favorite shots from the Cooper family photo session last week. The Coopers are good friends of ours in Santa Barbara. They have so much joy and just truly love being around each other. It was a pleasure to photograph their family… Thanks guys!
